Indoor Air Quality Services
Indoor Air Quality and Sick Building Syndrome are hot catch phrases in today’s vocabulary, and for good reason. Problems with indoor air quality could lead to a host of problems, including complaints from employees, low employee morale, lost productivity, workman’s compensation claims, regulatory agency fines, embarrassing publicity, and civil and criminal liabilities and law suits.
Some causes and contributing factors to poor indoor air quality, include:
- Inadequate Ventilation
- Poor Building and Floor Plan Design
- Production and Operations
- Equipment Usage
- Poor Equipment Maintenance
- Inappropriate Chemical Usage
- Inadequate Chemical Storage
- Microbiological Contaminants
- Improper Temperature and Relative Humidity
- Outdoor Air Pollutants
Indoor air quality issues range from simple complaints such as the air smelling odd to more complex complaints where the air quality causes illness. Because of the number and variety of possible sources, causes and varying individual sensitivities, if not investigated properly, it can be difficult to identify the source of the problem.
To ensure that all potential sources are identified and handled in the most cost effective and timely manner, Total Environmental & Safety, LLC conducts a multi faceted Indoor air quality investigation. The investigation includes: 1) interviewing affected employees; 2) conducting a physical site inspection; 3) evaluating ventilation systems, air exchange rates, machinery, maintenance procedures, operations, work practices, chemical usage, and chemical storage; and 4) if necessary, conducting air testing.
Because our professional associates include Certified Industrial Hygienists (CIH) and other certified safety professionals with a wide range of disciplines, we have the knowledge, experience, and qualifications not only to identify the causes of poor indoor air quality, but, also to develop and implement corrective actions.
